M72 Studio is the director-led AI studio of Dirty Monkey Pictures, the Beijing film company founded by Ning Hao. We make brand films, launch films and series for brands in China and anywhere else, and we work in English and Chinese.
Dirty Monkey Pictures makes theatrical features — Crazy Stone, Dying to Survive, No More Bets, Once Upon a Time in the Middle East — and runs the 72 Transformations program that develops young directors. M72 Studio makes short-form and commercial work, AI-first: brand films, launch films, series and originals.
The two share directors, crews, art departments and IP. When a brand film needs a feature director, a production designer who has built a film set, or a spin-off from a film people have actually seen, that is what the connection is for.
Brands launching outside China. Consumer electronics, smart home, mobility and games companies taking a range to the US, Europe or Southeast Asia, who need launch films, campaign films and localised versions at a pace that matches their roadmap. Dreame's Super Bowl spot and its San Francisco launch films are this kind of work.
Agencies and production companies. Teams holding an AI brief who need a director-led production partner that can scope, schedule and deliver — under their name or ours.
Game publishers. Cinematic trailers, season content and character animation for titles with global audiences.
Platforms and producers. Animated series with a stable cast across many episodes, developed with or without a brand partner. The Tmall 11.11 series — fifteen episodes, eighteen characters, five weeks — is the reference.
China is where AI video went mainstream first — in 2026, most of the country's short dramas are AI-generated, and the models the world uses for video were largely built here. Working inside that market means our pipelines are tested at a volume and pace that is hard to find elsewhere, and our directors have had longer to learn what the tools are good for and what they are not.
We are not a cheaper place to generate footage. We are a film company's AI unit, and we price and deliver like a production company. What the location buys you is a team that has shipped more AI film, sooner, than most.
For overseas clients we work on your hours for calls and reviews, and in English throughout.
We work across the current video and image models — Seedance, Kling, Veo, Runway, Midjourney and others — and choose per shot, not per vendor. If your procurement or legal team has requirements about where models are hosted or whose terms apply, tell us at the brief: we can run a project on a specific set of models and document it, and we will tell you what that changes in cost and look. Every delivery comes with a provenance sheet listing the models and tools used.
M72 is short for Monkey 72: the seventy-two transformations of the Monkey King, who can become anything. It is also Dirty Monkey Pictures' name for its director program. For an AI studio, a shapeshifter with a strong personality seemed about right.
